“I don’t know if we really need engagement photos…”
“Wow! That was actually fun! I was expecting to hate it.”
These are the top three things I hear about engagement photos from my clients. At first, they don’t know if they even need or want engagement photos. The traditional approach to engagement photos is very stiff, impersonal, and frankly, boring. I truly believe photos should be fun for everyone involved, playful, and timeless.
Engagement photos are an excellent opportunity for us to get to know each other, to give you experience with how I operate behind the camera, and to take some of the nerves out of the wedding day. Add to that the benefit that you get a collection of beautiful, timeless images that you’ll be able to treasure for your entire life, and it’s an absolute MUST.
Several of my wedding packages actually INCLUDE the engagement session because it is so useful and meaningful. I’ve had so many people [mostly grooms-to-be] who were nervous about photos tell me afterward that they enjoyed their sessions and that they were so excited for wedding photos after our time together!
I used to see weddings as the end to a story; it was the end of every fairy tale and Shakespearean comedy, but after being married for more than ten years, I can honestly say it is truly the epic launch to a greater adventure. Bearing that in mind, I take an approach to your wedding of focusing on the emotions, people, and details that you chose to incorporate into the beginning of your story as a married couple. There is meaning at every turn in a wedding and I make it my goal to find it out and capture it beautifully.
Yet, in all of this meaning, substance, and significance, working with me is NEVER boring. I just enjoy having fun too much for that to be allowed! I love bringing laughter and playfulness into our photos with jokes, smiles, and prompt-based portraits. I make sure as much as I’m able that photos are fun for everyone involved and make it my goal to make everyone laugh and enjoy their time while I’m photographing them.
I’ve worked as a wedding photographer for eight years and have honed my craft to make sure each event is carefully and lovingly crafted in a way to make sure you have wonderful memories and a wonderful time during photos and your special day.
More than 35 years ago, my parents met on a beach in Santa Cruz, California, fell in love, and got married five months after they met. They eloped in Reno, Nevada, and have been in love ever since.
Elopements are a precious part of my family’s story and built into the fabric of marriage for us. Because of that, I love offering small, intimate packages for my couples to allow them to have beautiful photos to treasure that fits within their budget and the style of their wedding.
I’ve traveled for all sorts of beautiful elopements, and offer reasonably priced adventure elopements in Colorado, Wyoming, and throughout the United States.
One of the amazing things about developing a relationship with the people with whom I work is to get to grow alongside them and take photos of their family as it grows!
Maternity photos are an amazing opportunity to commemorate the brief period that you grow your new tiny person and the amazing way that your family is about to change.
Your children will love to see the affection and excitement you felt while you prepared for their arrival. Maternity photos are an amazing way to tell your little one the story of how much you loved them from the very beginning!
Celebrate your new family member’s arrival with a precious newborn session. I combine posed and unposed lifestyle images to create an amazing gallery that indicates how very loved and precious your tiny one was from the very beginning.
I do my newborn sessions in the homes of my clients and incorporate the entire family in these sessions. I love to include brothers, sisters, pets, and parents to truly celebrate how the family has changed and grown. This yields beautiful images that will be treasured for a lifetime and beyond.
As a parent myself, I know how quickly each moment and stage for our kids passes. It’s so meaningful to have quality, beautiful images to capture our children at each meaningful moment as they grow up.
My milestone packages are developed to capture my clients’ unique personalities, interests, and experiences. So grab or bake a cake and we can have a ball commemorating your little one’s big moments.
As your family grows throughout the years, it’s priceless to have photos of your beautiful crew!
I love traveling with my clients to breathtaking locations and capturing their precious families. It’s an absolute treat to capture beautiful light and genuine moments between their family members.
Creating beautiful family portraits is about much more than having a “perfect” Christmas card or an image to hang in your living room. It’s about showing who you are as a family and capturing your love, relationships, and experiences throughout your lives together.
